The Doctrine of the Unlimited Atonement

Outline

I. Christ died for the sins of the whole world!
A. The Lord Jesus Christ died for the sins of the whole world.
B. He died not just for those who would believe in Him but also for those who would not believe in Him.
C. He died for everyone!
D. Romans 3:10 says that there is not a righteous person in the world.
E. “There is none righteous, not even one.”
F. Therefore, Christ had to die for the whole world.
G. The entire human race was an enemy of God because of sin, but Jesus Christ came to die for sinners, which means everyone!
H. Romans 5:6-8, “For while we were still helpless (spiritually dead), at the right time Christ died for the ungodly (before salvation as unbelievers). For one will hardly die for a righteous man; though perhaps for the good man someone would dare even to die. But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners (unbelievers), Christ died for us.”
I. Jesus Christ is the Savior of all men and not just believers!
J. 1 Timothy 4:10, “For it is for this we labor and strive, because we have fixed our confidence on the living God (Jesus Christ) Who is the Savior of all men, especially of believers!”
K. John 1:29, “The next day he (John the Baptist) saw Jesus coming to him, and said, ‘Behold, the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!”
L. Notice it doesn’t say that He takes away the sin of the believer!
M. He takes away the sin of the whole world!
N. 1 John 2:2, “And He Himself (the Lord Jesus Christ) is the satisfaction for our sins (the believer); and not for ours only, but also for the whole world!”
O. God offers salvation to all men through Jesus Christ, Titus 2:11, “For the grace of God has appeared (the Lord Jesus Christ), bringing salvation to all men.”
II. God’s desires all men to be saved!
A. God wants everyone to be saved!
B. The devil and the fallen angels want you to think that God doesn’t want everyone to be saved!
C. The devil and the fallen angels say that God is unfair, but God is fair!
D. God doesn’t want anyone to go to the Lake of Fire forever and ever!
E. John 3:17, “For God did not send the Son into the world to judge the world (Christ would die in their place), but that the world should be saved through Him (faith alone in Christ alone)!”
F. The reason why God sent His Son to die for the sins of the world was so that everyone could have the chance of being saved!
G. Now, will everyone be saved!
H. NO!
I. Why?
J. John 3:18, “He who believes in Him is not judged; he who does not believe has been judged already, because he has not believed in the name of the uniquely born (virgin born) Son of God.”
K. John 3:36, “He who believes in the Son has eternal life; but he who does not obey the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him (who does not believe in Christ).”
L. God’s will is for all men to be saved through faith in Christ, but not all men will believe in Christ!

N. Everyone has a free will and some people will choose to believe in Christ and others will not!
O. Therefore, people go to the Lake of Fire forever and ever because they want to and not because God wants them to!
P. 2 Peter 3:9, “The Lord is not slow about His promise, as some count slowness, but is patient toward you (unbeliever), not wishing for any to perish but for all to come to a change of mind about Christ.”
Q. 1 Timothy 2:4, “God desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth (Bible Doctrine, the mind of Christ).”
R. God will not violate your free will!
S. He would be unjust if He made you believe in His Son Jesus Christ!
T. You and you alone must make the decision to believe in Christ to be saved!
U. God is just!
III. When Adam sinned, we all sinned!
A. The Bible says that when Adam sinned, we all sinned!
B. Romans 5:12, “Therefore, just as through one man (Adam) sin entered into the world, and spiritual death spread through sin, and so spiritual death spread to all men, because all sinned when Adam sinned.”
C. Everyone baby that is born into the world is a sinner before they ever did anything wrong!
D. Because Adam disobeyed God and ate from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, everyone becomes a sinner at physical birth!
E. Everyone baby born is a sinner!
F. Romans 5:19a, “For as through the one man’s disobedience (Adam) the whole human race were made sinners.”
G. God made Adam’s sin our sin! Why?
H. That sounds unfair!
I. Why did God put the whole human race under Adam’s sin!
J. Romans 11:32, “For God has shut up all (the whole human race) in disobedience (Adam’s sin) (why?) in order that He might show mercy to all men!”
K. Therefore, if God made everyone a sinner because of Adam, He had to send His Son to die for everyone!
L. Romans 6:10a, “For the spiritual death that He (the Lord Jesus Christ) died, He died to sin, once for all (the entire human race)!”
M. It would be unjust for God to send His Son Jesus Christ to die for the sins of only those who are believers!
N. But we know that God is just because He sent His Son to die for everyone who became a sinner at physical birth as a result of Adam’s sin!
O. 2 Corinthians 5:14-15, “For the love of Christ controls us, having concluded this, that one (Jesus Christ) died for all men, therefore, all died (as a result of Adam’s sin). And He (the Lord Jesus Christ) died for all men, that they who live should no longer live for themselves, but for Him who died and rose again on their behalf!”
IV. God’s Peace Treaty with the Entire World!
A. God has made peace with the whole world through His Son’s death on the Cross!
B. The whole human race were enemies of God!
C. Romans 5:10, “For if while we were enemies, we were reconciled to God through the spiritual death of His Son, much more, having been reconciled, we shall be saved by His life.”
D. The Lord Jesus Christ as the God-Man has made peace between God and man!
E. 2 Corinthians 5:18-19, “Now all these things are from God the Father, the One who reconciled us to Himself through Christ and gave to us for our benefit the ministry of this peace treaty (the Gospel). Specifically that God the Father was reconciling the world to Himself in Christ, not charging their personal sins to their account, and has deposited in us (believers) the doctrine of this peace treaty (the Gospel).”
F. The Lord Jesus Christ is 100% God and 100% Man!
G. He is co-equal, co-eternal and co-infinite with God the Father and God the Holy Spirit!
H. He is a human being just like you and I but yet He is God and does not have an old sin nature like you and I do!
I. Because He is both God and Man at the same time, He is able to make peace between God and Man!
J. He is the Peacemaker!

K. He is our peace!
L. Ephesians 2:14, “For He Himself (the Lord Jesus Christ) is our peace!”
M. He is the Prince of Peace (Isa. 9:6)!
N. Colossians 1:20, “and through Him (the Lord Jesus Christ) to reconcile all things to Himself, having made peace through the blood (saving work) of His Cross.”
O. We have peace with God through the Lord Jesus Christ!
P. Romans 5:1, “Therefore having been justified by faith in Christ, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.” 17. The person who will not believe in Jesus Christ remains at war with God even though God has made it easy for them to be saved!
Q. The person who will not believe in Jesus Christ to be saved remains at war with God even though God has made peace through the saving work of His Son on the Cross!
R. God is not after us!
S. God is for us!
T. God loves the world so much that He gave His uniquely born Son!
U. John 3:16, “For God the Father so loved the world that He gave His uniquely virgin born Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish (go to the Lake of Fire), but have eternal life (live with God forever and ever)!
V. God is Fair!
A. God is Fair!
B. Satan and the fallen angels say that God is not fair because God sentenced them to the Lake of Fire!
C. How can you say that God is unfair when He gave His very Best, the Lord Jesus Christ!
D. How can you say that God is unfair when He has done all the work and all we have to do is believe!
E. The devil and his angels want you and I to think that God is unfair, therefore, they want you to think that Jesus Christ died for only believers!
F. The Lord Jesus Christ died for every person who has ever lived in human history!
G. He died for everyone from Adam and the Woman right down to the last person who will be born in human history!
H. Hebrews 2:9, “But we do see Him who has been made for a little while lower than the angels, Jesus, because of the suffering of death crowned with glory and honor, that by the grace of God He might taste death for everyone (the whole human race)!”
I. 1 Peter 3:18, “For Christ also died for sins once for all (the entire human race), the just (the believer) and the unjust (unbeliever), in order that He might bring us to God, having been put to death in the flesh, but made alive in the spirit.”
J. People go to the Lake of Fire because they will not believe in Christ and not because Christ didn’t die for their sins!
