essay: Prayer; Reasons God will NOT answer your prayer

July 26, 2014

1. Negative attitude toward Bible Doctrine

He who turns away his ear from listening to the Word of God, his prayer is an abomination. (Proverbs 28:9)

3. Lack of domestic tranquility (no peace in the home)

You husbands in the same way, live with your wives in an understanding way, as with someone weaker, since she is a woman; and show her honor as a fellow heir of the grace so that your prayers will not be hindered.
(1 Peter 3:1-7)

6) Lack of faith

But he must ask in faith without any doubting, for the one who doubts is like the surf of the sea, driven and tossed by the wind. For that man ought not to expect that he will receive anything from the Lord. (James 1:6-7)

8) A closed mind to the needs of other people.

He who shuts his ear to the cry of the poor will also cry himself and not be heard.         (Proverbs 21:13)

9) Perpetual carnality

Behold, the LORD’S hand is not so short that it cannot save; Nor is His ear so dull that it cannot hear. But your iniquities have made a separation between you and your God, And your sins have hidden His face from you so that He does not hear. (Isaiah 59:1-2)

Then they will cry out to the LORD, But He will not answer them. Instead, He will hide His face from them at that time Because they have practiced evil deeds. (Michah 3:4)

If I regard wickedness in my heart, The Lord will not hear (Psalm 66:18)

Alas, sinful nation, People weighed down with iniquity, Offspring of evildoers, Sons who act corruptly! They have abandoned the LORD, They have despised the Holy One of Israel, They have turned away from Him. “So when you spread out your hands in prayer, I will hide My eyes from you; Yes, even though you multiply prayers, I will not listen. Your hands are covered with blood. (Isaiah 1:4,15)

10) Selfishness (Asking only for me, me, me!)

You ask and do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives, so that you may spend it on your pleasures. (James 4:3)
