I recently asked someone if he engaged in Bible Study on a regular basis?
He answered that he likes to read his bible every day.
Again, I asked if he engaged in Bible Study regularly.
He looked at me with a blank stare…
I then told him that, simply reading the Bible, is not, studying the Bible.
Another blank Stare…

Bible Doctrine Resource is a NON-RELIGIOUS fellowship of believers in our Lord Jesus Christ. Remember… Christianity is “NOT“ a RELIGION.
RELIGION is… man through mans own efforts, trying to gain Gods approval through his own physical works.
CHRISTIANITY is… God seeking a relationship with sinful mankind, through the saving work of Jesus Christ on the cross.
.
Please scroll down to view our Doctrinal Statement. ………………………………………………………………………………………………

.
If you have not yet believed in Jesus Christ as your Savior. I would like you to know, that Jesus Christ had you personally in his mind when he went to the cross. And that every sin that you have ever committed, (past, present, and future), was poured out on him and judged, while he was hanging on the cross. And this means that, where you are sitting right now, you can have eternal life, simply by believing in Jesus Christ. . .
******************** Jesus Christ himself, said the following ********************
“Whosoever believes in me will not perish, but have everlasting life.” Jn 3:15
“For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in him will not perish, but have everlasting life.” Jn 3:16
“He that believes on him is not condemned, but he that believes not is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.” Jn 3:18
“He that believes the Son has everlasting life, and he that believes not the Son, shall not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him.” Jn 3:36
“And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one that which sees the Son, and believes on him, will have everlasting life, and I will raise him up on the last day.”Jn 6:40
“Truly I say unto you, he that believes on me, has everlasting life.” Jn 6:47
.
So right now, you have an important decision to make! You can either, believe in Christ, (faith) or you can reject him. The decision is yours. You can tell God the Father, (in your own thoughts) that you are believing in his Son, and that will be the moment of eternal life for you.
We here at BibleDoctrineResource.com, hope that you make this very important decision, and become an eternal member of the Royal family of God.

******************** Doctrine of the Importance of Bible Doctrine ********************
.
I. Preliminary considerations.
A. From the exegesis and study of Scripture we arrive at categories, or doctrines, that are documented throughout the Word of God.
B. The importance of Bible doctrine is clearly taught and emphasized throughout both the Old Testament and the New Testament. Ps. 119 is largely devoted to the importance of doctrine.
C. Since the completion of the canon, God has not chosen to provide further objective revelation to the human race at large.
D. God’s attitude concerning the importance of His written Word is expressed in the factual case of the rich man and Lazarus. Lk. 16:29-31
1. Abraham’s response to the rich man suggests that God’s word is sufficient revelation for those that seek Him.
2. If they will not accept the Word of God, they will not be persuaded by some sign or won-der–not even someone rising from the dead.
E. Therefore, the Church age believer must be able to understand and acclimate to God starting from His written word.
F. An understanding of the Bible is imperative for the believer who hopes to understand the Plan of God and adjust to the directive will of God.
G. Just as Jesus Christ was the perfect revelation of the Father in bodily form, the canon of Scripture contains the progressive revelation that God has determined to reveal to the human race. Col. 1:15,19; IITim. 3:16
H. Failure to understand and acclimate to the importance of doctrine destines a believer for fail-ure in the Christian way of life.
I. This doctrine is foundational to the Christian way of life; the believer that rejects this truth can readily be deluded into following ministries that appeal to the lust grid of his sin nature. IITim. 4:3-4
J. Absent Bible doctrine in the believer’s soul, human spirit, and brain computer (and ob-edience to the teaching), he is far more susceptible to falling prey to the schemes and doc-trines of Satan. Eph. 6:11-17; IICor. 2:11
K. The importance of Bible doctrine should be understood in light of the doctrine of verbal plenary inspiration. IITim. 3:16-17
1. Verbal relates to the speaking of words.
2. Plenary means that which is complete or absolute.
3. Inspiration is literally God-breathed.
4. More fully, verbal plenary inspiration means that God so moved the authors of Scripture that the resulting product was the Word of God written, totally without error in the auto-graphs, in every area including theology, history, geography, and science.
L. It is God’s sovereign and directive will that all men come to a full knowledge of the entire realm of Bible doctrine. ITim. 2:3-4
Doctrine of the Importance of Bible Doctrine 11-07 2
II. Definition and description.
A. Bible doctrine is the content of the canon of scripture, contained in the sixty-six books of the Old and New Testaments. IISam. 23:2-3; IITim. 3:16-17
B. Bible doctrine is God’s viewpoint on any and all subjects, a viewpoint that has existed eter-nally with Him, and is not subject to change. Prov. 8:22-31
C. The Divine viewpoint will continue to exist eternally, even after the dissolution of the present heavens and earth. Isa. 40:8; Matt. 5:18; IPet. 1:24-25
D. Bible doctrine contains no error or distortion of any kind. Prov. 8:6-9
E. The supreme importance of Bible doctrine is seen in the fact that God has exalted His word at least to the level of His own reputation, both of which are interconnected. Ps. 138:2
III. Complete understanding of Bible doctrine comes only to positive volition as the believer orients to the system that God has established.
A. Jesus taught that the truth of His word is understood only to those who are positive. Matt. 13:10-12
B. Individuals who are positive are called “seekers” since they are not satisfied until they find the truth for which they are looking. Acts 17:27; Ps. 119:2
C. However, even the most positive believer will not arrive at a full understanding of the truth apart from the system that God has established.
1. This aspect of the truth is under attack on almost every front in our period of history. II Tim. 4:3
2. Many advocate the false doctrine that they do not need every aspect of God’s system to arrive at a full understanding of the truth, omitting the necessity of the local church and pastor-teacher and substituting such things as tapes, TV programs, books, Bible pro-grams, personal study, etc.
3. While we do not argue that people can obtain information about God and His plan via other materials, we hold to the premise that the local church is the authorized environ-ment for the teaching of Bible doctrine to adults. ITim. 3:15; Rev. 2,3
4. Further, we believe that personal study by the most astute believer, using the most relia-ble methods available, being in fellowship, etc., will not do for that believer what a prop-erly functioning local church and pastor-teacher can do: provide the environment and in-struction necessary to achieve the maturity adjustment. Col. 1:28
a. Many reject communicators of doctrine, believing that they can achieve on their own what God has provided communicators to do. Acts 20:28; Eph. 4:11ff,16; Heb. 13:17
b. Others reject the environment of the local church, believing that they can make the adjustments in their thinking apart from the environment God has established. Matt. 16:18; ITim. 3:14-15
D. We call the system God has instituted the GAP system, the grace apparatus for perception.
1. Internally, this consists of:
a. The indwelling of the Holy Spirit, who is the ultimate teacher of Bible doctrine for the believer that is in fellowship. ICor. 2:12
1) This fact does not alleviate the necessity of having a human teacher. ICor. 2:13; Eph. 4:11ff
2) In fact, rejection of God’s appointed teacher is a manifestation of arrogance and rebellion. IIIJn. 9
Doctrine of the Importance of Bible Doctrine 11-07 3
b. The human spirit, regenerated at the point of salvation, (Tit. 3:5) returning man to a trichotomous state; the inner man (Eph. 3:16) that provides the circuitry to override the old self (Col. 3:9-10), is built up through the intake of doctrine. Col. 2:7
2. Externally, the GAP system requires the following:
a. Operation gnosis.
1) A local church, the authorized environment for teaching Bible doctrine, which as-sembly believers are commanded not to forsake. Heb. 10:25
2) A properly trained pastor-teacher armed with the correct hermeneutic principles, extracting the content of the Bible through the literal, historical method of inter-pretation, with his emphasis on study, teaching, refutation of human/demonic viewpoint, rebuke and exhortation. II Tim. 2:2
a) The pastor-teacher is commanded to study. IITim. 2:15
b) His charge is found in IITim. 4:1ff
c) The proper teaching of Bible doctrine will reveal issues to the believer that may be hidden, due to ignorance or rejection of the truth. Heb. 4:12
d) Apart from this, believers simply distort the Word of God along the lines of their particular STA bent. IIPet. 3:16
3) The pastor-teacher must be committed to the method of teaching verse by verse, from the original languages, interpreting isagogically. ICor. 9:9; ITim. 4:15
4) He must establish an environment conducive to the intake of Bible doctrine, in-sisting on the appropriate public decorum–enforced humility.
5) The pastor-teacher is responsible for the decorum of the assembly and is to see that good manners and poise are maintained.
6) Each believer must give the information a fair and impartial hearing, in fellow-ship, which constitutes true humility. Jms 1:19-21
7) This system requires consistent attendance, self-discipline, concentration, com-prehension, repetition, and reflection.
b. Operation epignosis.
1) This occurs when the believer applies faith toward the teaching of Bible doctrine. Acts 4:4; ICor. 15:11
2) Faith in God’s word is the basis for Ph1 and Ph2 righteousness. Rom. 3:22, 4:5; James 2:23
c. Operation application.
1) James effectively dispels the myth that possession of Bible doctrine through faith, in and of itself, is sufficient to produce Ph2 righteousness. James 2:14-26
2) All doctrine that you inhale (believe) will be tested. IPet. 1:7
3) Full blessing in God’s plan comes only through faith that applies the doctrine to the daily issues of life. Lk. 11:27-28
d. Consistency under this system God established leads to the maturity adjustment and Ph3 vindication. Mk. 4:26-29; Eph. 4:13; Col. 1:28-29
E. Bible doctrine is called the mind or thinking of Jesus Christ. ICor. 2:16
1. The objective of the indwelling of the Holy Spirit is to reprogram the brain computer with the thinking of Jesus Christ. Rom. 12:2; ICor. 2:12-13
2. This is accomplished under the GAP system by the Holy Spirit, Who indwells us to teach us. ICor. 2:12
3. Possession of the mind of Christ constitutes the indwelling of Christ. Jn. 15:7; Gal. 4:19; Eph. 3:14-19
Doctrine of the Importance of Bible Doctrine 11-07 4
F. The gathering of manna by the Jews in the desert illustrates the function of GAP. Exod. 16; ICor. 10:3
1. Initially, the Jews did not know what the white substance was, even though Moses had briefed them prior to their first encounter with it. Ex. 16:6-8
2. Their response to the manna is recorded as Wh !M; (man hu, what is it?), which be-came the permanent name.
3. This is designed to humorously illustrate the response of negative volition to a doctrinal ministry.
4. They had to gather the manna at the prescribed time, suggesting that God has established a proper time and place for getting doctrine.
5. They were to gather only what they could eat, or it would spoil, illustrating that you only need a certain amount of doctrinal teaching. You must have the time to digest the infor-mation, reflect on it, pray, and make the appropriate applications.
6. On Friday they were to gather a double portion; we do so on Sunday.
7. They complained about their diet and their leaders for forty years, demonstrating their lack of orientation to what God provided.
IV. The great believers of the Old Testament paid tribute to the importance of Bible doctrine.
A. Job, the most prosperous man of his day, understood this issue. Job 28
1. He contrasts man’s efforts to exploit the hidden resources of of earth with their neglect of Bible doctrine. Vss. 1-13

2. Negative volition brings cursing. Vss. 15-68
3. The ups and downs of national Israel are a reflection of their attitude toward Bible doc-trine. Deut. 30:1-10
4. The issue simply stated. Deut. 30:11-20
C. Joshua, one of the only two adults from the Exodus generation that made it to the promised land, was told of its importance. Josh. 1:7-9
D. He embraced this doctrine and it was the subject of his parting address to the nation. Josh. 23:6-16; 24:25-28
E. David paid tribute to the importance of Bible doctrine. Ps. 1:1-3; 19:7-11
F. The unknown author of Psalm 119 details the excellencies of Bible doctrine.
1. It is the source of blessing. Vss. 1-2
2. Bible doctrine brings victory over the STA. Vs. 11
3. Rejection of doctrine typifies the arrogant. Vs. 21
4. Doctrine enourages the fear of the Lord. Vs. 38
Doctrine of the Importance of Bible Doctrine 11-07 5
5. Produces true liberty. Vs. 45
6. It is the source of comfort. Vss. 49-52
7. Forms the basis for separation from the maladjusted. Vs. 53

G. Solomon deals with the importance of doctrine in the book of Proverbs.
1. The fear of the Lord (a manifestation of positive volition) is the beginning of wisdom. Prov. 1:7, 9:10, 15:33
2. The prologue emphasizes the part Bible doctrine plays in spiritual growth. Prov. 1:1-6
3. Orientation to doctrine brings all spiritual and physical blessing. Prov. 3:1-26, 24:3-4
4. Those that reject Bible doctrine will find that they will eventually pay a very steep price. Prov. 1:24-32
5. Parents are responsible to teach Bible doctrine to their children and enforce its precepts to protect them from:
a. Criminal types. Prov. 1:8-19
b. The immoral woman. Prov. 2:16-19. 5:1-23, 6:23-35, 7:1-27

B. He is to teach the entire realm of doctrine, omitting nothing because it is controversial, be-cause it goes against him personally, because it reproves someone in the congregation, be-cause some will not accept or apply it, or because it is not taught by someone else. Acts 20:20-27; IITim. 2:15
C. A careful study of Acts reveals the emphasis of the apostolic church. Acts 2:42, 6:1-7, 11:19-26, 14:21-23, 18:11; ICor. 4:17

2. They repudiate their right pastor-teacher and local church and opt for a plurality of teachers via travel, books, tapes, television, videos, the internet, etc.
3. The teachers they choose are not sound in the faith but are chosen based on the STA trends that appeal to the maladjusted believer.
4. The inevitable result is that these believers are adversely influenced by “operation Q-tip” and no longer desire to remain with a sound ministry.

17 indisputable facts found in the book of 1st JOHN chapter 1.
*
Fact # 1.
When we confess our sins to God, he “cleanses” us of “all” our unrighteousness. (personal sins)
* 1Jn 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
Fact # 2.
When we are “cleansed”, we are said to be “walking in the light”, and while we are walking in the light, we are in fellowship with God.
Light = Fellowship.
* 1Jn 1:7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanses us from all sin.
Fact # 3.
In this “light”, we are NOT in “darkness”. In other words, when we are “NOT” cleansed, we are “in darkness”. Darkness = “ NO FELLOWSHIP” with God.
* 1Jn 1:5,6 This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.
Vs 6: If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not know the truth:
Fact # 4.
While we are “cleansed” we are in “fellowship” with God.
Cleansing + Light = Fellowship
* 1Jn 1:7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanses us from all sin.
Fact # 5.
If we think we are in “fellowship” with God, but have “unconfessed” personal sins in our soul, we are,” lying to ourselves”. And, we don’t understand the “doctrine of fellowship”, or the “doctrine of confession”.
* 1Jn 1:6 If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not know the truth.
Fact # 6.
If we believe that we have not committed any personal sins, we are “deceiving ourselves”. And do not know the “doctrine of the Old Sin Nature”.
* 1Jn 1:8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.
Fact # 7.
God cannot have “fellowship” with sin.
*1Jn 1:5b. This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.
Fact # 8.
The only way to have “fellowship” with God, is to “confess” your personal sins to him.
*1Jn 1:9. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
Fact # 9.
After we confess our sins… the very next sin we commit, we relinquish our fellowship, and return back to darkness. Therefore we need to confess that sin to God, in order to regain “fellowship” with him.
Fellowship + personal sin = darkness.
Darkness + confession = fellowship.
NOTE: This is a daily process.
*1Jn 1:7,9 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.
9: If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

*1Jn 1:3,4 That which we have seen and heard we declare unto you, that you also may have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ. Vs: 4, And these things we write unto you, that your joy may be full.
Fact # 11.
The Apostle John received this information directly from Jesus Christ himself, while he was here on earth.
*1Jn 1:3,5 That which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that ye also may have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ. NOTE: “To confess your sins” does “NOT” mean to
“ask God for forgiveness”. Nowhere in the bible does it tell us to “ask for forgiveness”.
AGAIN: Nowhere in the bible does it tell us to “ask God to forgive us of our sins!! God simply requires us to
” name each sin to him”, and then he will forgive us of them. 1Jn 1:9. He then will remember them no more. Heb 8:12 .

************************* Doctrinal Statement ************************
Plenary verbal inspiration
.
The Scriptures in the original languages of Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek, both Old and New Testaments, are the plenary, verbally inspired Word of God. “Plenary” means that the entirety of Scripture is equally and fully revealed and inspired by God. “Verbal” refers to the principle of inerrancy, that inspiration extends to each and every word. Inspiration means “God-breathed” (2 Timothy 3:16) and means that the Bible is God’s complete and connected thought to mankind (2 Peter 1:20–21; 2 Timothy 3:16–17; Matthew 5:18; John 16:12–13). God the Holy Spirit so supernaturally directed the human writers of scripture, that without waiving their human intelligence, vocabulary, individuality, literary style, personality, personal feelings, or any other human factor, His complete and coherent message to mankind was recorded with perfect accuracy in the original languages of Scripture, the very words bearing the authority of divine authorship. Therefore the Bible is the final authority in all matters about which it speaks. Further, we believe the Bible is to be interpreted in a normal and literal way consistent with the historical, grammatical principle of hermeneutics under the filling of God the Holy Spirit (John 10:35; Matthew 5:18; 1 Corinthians 2:14-16)
Trinity
There is one God, who is sovereign, righteous, just, eternal, love, omnipotent, omniscient, omnipresent, immutable, veracious, merciful, good, infinite, and gracious in His essence. He exists in three persons; the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. All three persons of the Godhead are co-equal and co-eternal and co-infinite. (Matthew 28:19; Acts 5:3–5; John 10:30; Psalm 22:1; Matthew 3:16; 2 Corinthians 13:14; Genesis 48:15–16, 2 Samuel 23:2-3; Genesis 1:26.
God the Father
God the Father is the first person of the Godhead. He is the Father, architect, and planner of all creation (Malachi 2:10; Acts 17:29; Jeremiah 33:27; 1 Corinthians 8:6). He is the Father of all believers in the Lord Jesus Christ (Psalm 103:13; Galatians 3:26) but not the Father of unbelievers (John 8:42-44). The relationship between God the Father and God the Son did not have a beginning but has existed from eternity past. The Father’s character is revealed to us in the person of Christ (John 8:58; 17:5, 24; 20:17). The Father and the Son are co-equal and co-eternal in essence. The Son voluntarily submitted Himself to the Father’s plan so there could be a savior for mankind (1 Corinthians 8:6). The Father is the Supreme Person of the universe (Hebrews 6:13). He has absolute will and does whatever He pleases (Isaiah 55:11, 56:4, 42:21, Psalm 115:3, 135:6, 1 Corinthians 1:21; Colossians 1:19; Hebrews 11:5; Ephesians 1:5, 9). It pleased the Father to send the Son to die as a spiritual substitute for the sins of the human race (John 3:16–18). The Father was propitiated by the Son’s impeccable sacrifice on the cross (Romans 3:25). Those who accept the Son and His work on their behalf enter into the family of God at the instant of faith in Christ. Through this the Father brings many sons into glory and glorifies the Godhead (Romans 8:14, 19; Galatians 4:5–6, Hebrews 2:10; 1 John 3:2).
God the Son
God the Son (Jesus Christ) is co-equal, co-eternal, and co-infinite with God the Father and God the Holy Spirit; He possesses the same divine attributes as the Father and the Holy Spirit. We believe that the Second Person of the Trinity, the Son, agreed to the incarnation in order to glorify the Father and redeem mankind from the slave market of sin. The Son (undiminished Deity) united with perfect humanity (Hebrews 10:5) to become Jesus of Nazareth (Matthew 1:21–25). The humanity of Jesus Christ was concieved by God the Holy Spirit when the Spirit enabled the virgin Mary to conceive apart from procreation (Luke 1:35). His conception was supernatural and thus Jesus did not have a human father. Due to this He did not possess Adam’s sinful nature and did not receive the imputation of Adam’s original sin. The Son’s nature was such that He was true, sinless humanity and undiminished deity united in one person forever (Isaiah 7:14; Matthew 1:18–25; Colossians 2:9; Philippians 2:5–9). We believe that He voluntarily restricted the independent use of His divine attributes while on earth in order to rely strictly upon the Holy Spirit’s power for His spiritual life and power for some miracles. In this way He was victorious over Satan and the world system using the Spirit’s power in order to defeat His enemies and show us how we should live by means of the Spirit. Thus he set the precedent for the unique spiritual life of the Church Age. Jesus is the One and only Savior of the world and to gain eternal life one must place their faith alone in Him alone for salvation (Acts 4:12; 16:32; John 3:16, 36).
God the Holy Spirit
The Holy Spirit is co-equal and co-eternal and co-infinite with the Father and the Son. As God He possesses the same divine attributes as the Father and the Son. His ministry is to convict the world concerning the sin of unbelief, the absolute righteousness of God, and the judgment of Christ as our substitute (John 16:8–11). The Spirit is the agent of regeneration, sanctification, and comfort to those who believe in Jesus Christ (John 14:26). The Holy Spirit is a person just as the Father and Son are persons. He indwells all believers of the present church age. By Him all believers are baptized into the body of Christ and He seals them until the day of redemption. It is the duty of every believer to be filled with the Spirit through confession of sin (1 John 1:9) and thus fulfill the command to be “filled with the Spirit” (Eph. 5:18) and “walk by the Spirit” (Gal. 5:18).
Fall and Depravity of Mankind
The human soul was created in the image of God. The image of God refers to the reflection of His divine essence. Man’s image reflects God’s image in his immaterial makeup. Adam sinned willfully against God’s command not to eat of the forbidden tree and died spiritually. Mankind instantly became separated from God and unable to fellowship with Him (Genesis 3:18–19; Romans 3:23; 5:12; 6:23; Ephesians 2:12). All human beings inherit a sin nature which has been genetically passed down through the male since Adam. To this sin nature is imputed Adam’s original sin (Romans 3:23; 5:12) and each person is therefore born physically alive and spiritually dead. This describes the depravity of all mankind. Man, controlled by the sin nature, wants independence from God. God condemns mankind and will bring him to judgment (Hebrews 9:27; Revelation 20:11–15). God is fair and offers mankind an alternative through the sacrifice of His Son. Adam and the woman accepted the coats of skins from the hand of the Lord in Genesis 3:21. The shedding of animal (lamb, sheep, goats) blood pictured the future spiritual substitutionary death of Christ on the cross. The couple’s faith in the promised, future Savior as expressed through the sacrifices enabled them to receive the free gift of eternal life. This became the pattern of recovery for all of mankind. Each individual must personally accept the Savior in order to be removed from judgment (John 3:36). Eternal salvation today is based on believing that Jesus Christ paid the penalty for your sins. At the instant of faith in Christ, when the individual realizes that it is by faith alone in only Christ’s work on the cross, each believer is justified, regenerated, and receives eternal life. (Eph. 2:8-9; John 3:16, 18, 36; John 20:31; Acts 4:12).
Christ Our Spiritual Substitute
The Lord Jesus Christ was sent by God the Father to pay the penalty for all human sin, make provision for all of mankind to be delivered from spiritual death and certain judgment. Jesus came to redeem mankind (1 Peter 1:18–19) through His efficacious, spiritual, substitutionary death on the cross (2 Corinthians 5:21; 1 Peter 2:21–24; Isaiah 53:10–12). In the Hebrew of Isaiah 53:9 and the Greek of Col. 2:12 two deaths are mentioned:
His grave was assigned with wicked men Yet He was with a rich man in His DEATHS, Because He had done no violence, Nor was there any deceit in His mouth. Is 53:9
The first death of the Savior was spiritual as darkness descended upon the cross and the Father poured out our sins upon Him and then judged Him. The great violence of this activity was hidden from the eyes of all He suffered alone in the darkness. Upon completion of His work He said, “It is finished” (John 19:30). The work for our reconciliation was completed. The door was open for anyone to believe in Him and gain eternal life for He died for the sins of the whole world (1 John 2:2). He paid for our sins while still physically alive. He then dismissed His own spirit to the Father (John 10:17–18; Luke 23:46) and died physically. When the soldiers came to break His legs they found Him dead. His spiritual work on the cross paid for the sins of the world and there is no work that mankind can do to add to His work or take away from it. All that we have to do is believe in Him as our personal Savior to receive eternal life (Romans 5:9; 1 Peter 1:18–19).
Resurrection of Christ
The bodily, physical resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ from the grave; his bodily and physical ascension into heaven and His session which means He is seated at the right hand of God the Father during the present Church Age. He is currently the interceding High Priest and Advocate for all Church Age believers. (1 Peter 3:18; Acts 1:9–11; 1 Corinthians 15:1–4, Hebrews 7:25; 9:24; 1 John 2:1–2; Romans 8:34)
Dispensations
Dispensations are distinct administrations of God in human history in which the purpose of God is revealed through divine revelation. Human history is a sequence of divine administrations each having unique characteristics, as well as certain functions in common with other ages. God administers through delegated authority in each dispensation. Each designated authority, such as Israel in the Age of Israel and the Church in the Church Age, is to teach the gospel and explain God’s purpose and will to mankind (Romans 3:2; Acts 15:14; Ephesians 3:2). The essence of dispensationalism is a consistent distinction between God’s plan and purposes for Israel and his plan and purpose for the Church; a literal, plain system of interpretation applied to every area of Scripture, and an understanding that all of human history has the glory of God as its ultimate purpose. We reject the development known as Progressive Dispensationalism.
Rapture of the Church
The personal, bodily, physical return of Jesus Christ in the clouds for His bride, the Church (Titus 2:11–14). He will return before the seven year tribulation period also known as “Daniel’s Seventieth Week” or “Jacob’s Trouble.” He will appear in the clouds and the church will rise to meet Him in the air (1 Thessalonians 4:13-15). His return is imminent, “at any moment,” for no prophecy need be fulfilled prior to His return. The rapture is said to occur in the twinkling of an eye (1 Corinthians 15:51–54), during which time the bodies of all spiritually born again believers will be changed into resurrection bodies and the dead in Christ shall rise first followed by the living believers. All unbelievers will remain on the earth to go into the tribulation period. Because Christ delivers His church at the rapture no believer will ever experience, participate in, or suffer any part or portion of the tribulation period (Revelation 3:10).
Tribulation
The last seven years of the Age of Israel is called the tribulation. It begins after the rapture of the church when the Antichrist signs a peace treaty with the nation Israel. This age is characterized as a time of judgment upon unbelievers (Revelation 5–19). Mankind has rebelled against the Lord and refused to accept Jesus Christ as the Savior therefore God’s wrath begins to be poured out immediately after the rapture. The tribulation is also called the seventieth week of Daniel (Daniel 9:27, Jeremiah 30:7) and the time of Jacob’s trouble (Matthew 24:15–21, Revelation 6:1–19) since it is also a time of judgment upon Israel.
Eternal Security
Anyone who accepts the free gift of salvation through faith alone in Christ alone receives eternal life at the point of faith or belief. As a child of God (John 1:12), member of the royal family of God and royal priest (I Peter 2:5–7, 9) each believer is eternally secure in Christ. At no time can a believer loose his salvation by irresponsible behavior, or any sin of the mind, speech, and behavior. Eternal security is based upon God’s hold on us, not our hold upon Him (John 10:28–29; Jude 24). Since we are saved by faith it is an act of God’s grace to give eternal life (Ephesians 2:8–9; Titus 3:5). Therefore, it is God’s responsibility to keep us in His love in which He is absolutely capable (Romans 8:38–39). Even if we fall away into sin and deny our salvation, the Lord cannot deny us our salvation although He will deny us rewards (2 Timothy 2:11–13). Believers are assigned titles such as “holy”, “beloved”, and “elect” to indicate their eternal security in Christ (Colossians 3:12; Ephesians 1:7, 2:8–20).
Satan and the Fallen Angels
Satan is real and a literal enemy of God. His former name was Lucifer (Isaiah 14). He rebelled against God by claiming to have a better plan for the angels (Isaiah 14:12–14). His rebellion is the basis for the ongoing angelic conflict between God and His elect angels and Satan and his fallen angels (demons). Satan tempted man in the Garden of Eden and enticed Adam and Ishah (later renamed Eve) to sin. Through their fall Satan gained rulership of the world. He is called the prince and power of the air (Ephesians 2:1–4). He has been given a limited time by God to prove that his plan is superior to God’s plan. If he fails, and he will, he is destined to the lake of fire which was created for the devil and his angels (Matthew 25:41). He will be judged and cast into the lake of fire to suffer for all eternity (Revelation 20:1–10). In the meantime he is loose on earth and is the father of evil and all rebellion against God. He seeks to control nations in order to promote his concept of a perfect world where he is god and receives the worship of mankind. He will not be bound until the time of Christ’s future Millennial Kingdom.
Judgment
We believe in the separate, bodily, physical, resurrection of the dead. The justified ones (believers) will go to the Judgment Seat of Christ at the Rapture to receive their rewards (Romans 14:10; 1 Thessalonians 4:16–18, 1 Corinthians 3:11–16). They will spend eternity with the Lord with no more tears, no more sorrow, and no pain (Revelation 21:4—22:9) in a state of rejoicing and peace.
On the other hand, the unbelievers will be gathered at the end of the Millennium at the Great White Throne Judgment (Revelation 20:11–15). Since their names do not appear in the Book of Life, they will have to stand on their own works. Their works will not be an adequate substitute for faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and His imputed righteousness so they will be condemned and cast into the lake of fire where they will spend eternity in agony. (Revelation 19:20; 20:15).
Water Baptism
Immersion is the only method of baptism taught and commanded in the Scriptures. While it is an important ritual, it has no saving or delivering or sanctifying power. As a ritual it portrays the believer’s new position in Christ and his belief in his own future bodily resurrection. Spiritual rebirth is necessary before water baptism is to be performed.
When a believer is taken into the water he is publicly identifying himself with the death and burial of Christ. When he comes up out of the water he is identifying with the resurrection of Christ and his own future bodily resurrection.
Communion Service
The Lord’s Supper is a memorial of Christ’s spiritual substitutionary death on the cross in payment for our sins. This is the basis for mankind’s reconciliation with God (1 Corinthians 11:23–25, 2 Corinthians 5:17–21). Believers are to partake of the elements of communion which are unleavened bread and and wine (non fermented grape juice may be substituted). Communion is a time when Christians remember the cross of Christ, as well as express their faith and positive volition to God in worship, also as a time of intimate fellowship with God.
The unleavened bread symbolizes the perfect sinless humanity of Christ who was tempted in all ways but was without sin. He never went against the Father’s will at any time and therefore arrived at the cross sinless. The cup symbolizes the last three hours of Christ’s spiritual substitutionary sufferings as He bore our sins and was judged by the Father (2 Corinthians 5:21; 1 Peter 2:21–24, Isaiah 53:10–12). The unleavened bread and the cup are “symbols” of these things and never actually become the physical body and blood of the Lord Jesus Christ.
Local Church
The local church is the pillar and ground for all church age doctrines (I Timothy 3:15).The local church is a body of called out believers in Christ who assemble for teaching and fellowship with God which consists in prayer and the Lord’s Table (Acts 2:42). The local church is to protect the Word of God through sound bible based teaching. The local church is also the base from which missionaries are sent forth to teach the gospel (Acts 1:8, 20:1ff, Hebrews 10:25). Paul and his team were missionaries sent out to preach the gospel (Galatians 1:2, I Corinthians 1:2, Ephesians 1:1, Philippians 1:1, Acts 13-28). We believe the Bible teaches that the offices of Pastor-Teacher and Deacons are to be filled by males only. We do not believe in females holding the position of pastor or deacon. Any other office in the church may be held by an appointed man or woman. ( I Timothy 3:1-16, Acts 6, I Timothy 2:12, Ephesians 4:11-16, Acts 20, Titus 1:6-9, I Peter 5:1-5, Revelation 2-3). The moderator of all business meetings will be the chairman of the Board of Deacons. The head of the Board is the Pastor-Teacher and he appoints deacons as the congregation makes known their candidates. He seeks to appoint men of integrity and who are trustworthy based upon their past performance, attendance in prayer and Bible classes, enthusiasm about the ministry and reputation among the congregation members. The Pastor-Teacher shall work with the Deacons in the decision making processes required to keep the ministry operating.
Universal Church
The universal church to be the body of spiritually born again believers in Christ. The universal church will become the bride of Christ at the Rapture (Ephesians 1:22-23,, 5:25-27, I Corinthians 12:12-14).
Separation
All believers are called into a life of biblical study and mental separation from the views of the world system. There is no agreement with the righteousness of God and the unrighteousness of the world, between God’s light and the world’s darkness, between belief and unbelief (2 Corinthians 6:11–14). Believers are to maintain spirituality by confession of sins (1 John 1:9) which enables the Holy Spirit to lead the believer into biblical truth. The believer submits to God and is able to reject Satanic viewpoint, human good, human arrogance, sin patterns, cults and religious trends (James 4:4; 1 John 2:15–17, Romans 6:13; 2 Timothy 2:3–4; 14–26; 2 Thessalonians 3:6; Hebrews 13:13; Romans 16:17–18; 2 Corinthians 6:11–12; Proverbs 1:10–19).
Spirituality
Spirituality is an absolute, and the believer is either spiritual or carnal at any given moment in time. One cannot be both spiritual and carnal simultaneously. When a believer confesses his sin(s) to God the Father then he is forgiven and cleansed from all unrighteousness (1 John 1:9). The filling of the Spirit then occurs and the Spirit is then able to teach the believer the truths of the Word of God (Ephesians 5:18; Romans 5:5). The filling of the Spirit is not an emotional or ecstatic experience. It has nothing to do with speaking in tongues, seeing visions, or hearing voices. Rather, it is an absolute which is described in the Bible by synonyms such as “yield” (Romans 6:11-13), “confess” (1 John 1:9), “present” (Romans 6:13), “mortify yourselves” (Colossians 3:5), “strengthen the hands that hang down” (Hebrews 12:12), “walking in the light” (I John 1:7), “awake you that sleep” (Ephesians 5:14), and “judge yourselves” (1 Corinthians 11:31–32). All spiritual production in time depends upon the filling of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22–23). Love is a fruit of the Spirit and therefore true spirituality is described in 1 Corinthians 13.
Spiritual gifts
All spiritual gifts were given by Christ during His ascension (Ephesians 4:8) and that the Holy Spirit assigns as He desires (I Corinthians 12:13). There are temporary and permanent spiritual gifts. The temporary gifts ceased in 96 A.D. with the completion of the Canon of Scripture. The documentation for these ceasing of temporary gifts is found in I Corinthians 13:8 where the word “perfect” is in the neuter gender which refers to the completion of the Bible. In James 1:25 the Bible is referred to as the “perfect law of liberty”. The gifts that ceased were: Apostle, prophecy, wisdom, knowledge, miracles, healings, tongues, interpretation of tongues, distinguishing of spirits, and the gift of faith. Anyone claiming to have any or all of these gifts today is misinformed and into false doctrine. The permanent spiritual gifts still in use after A.D. 96 are: Evangelist, pastor-teacher, teacher, administration, exhortation, financier or giving, counseling or showing mercy, helps for men, helps for women. The purpose of these permanent gifts is to insure the cooperation and smooth function of the body of Christ (1 Corinthians 12:27–31; Romans 12).
Second Coming or Second Advent of Christ
The Second Coming of Christ will be seven literal years after the signing of the peace treaty or covenant between Israel and the antichrist (Zechariah 14:4–11; Matthew 24:15–25. 46; 2 Thessalonians 1:7–10, Revelation 20:6). He returns to set up His millennial kingdom upon the earth which was offered at the first advent but postponed due to rejection by the Jewish nation. Those believers who survive the Tribulation will enter into His kingdom and will rule the earth. Those who are unbelievers will be cast into Hades for 1000 years to await the Great White Throne Judgment.
Eternal State
The soul and human spirit of those who have believed in the Lord Jesus Christ for salvation at death will immediately pass into His presence and remain there in conscious bliss until the resurrections. At the rapture, the dead church age believers will be joined with their resurrection bodies and then the living church age believers receive their resurrection bodies. At the second coming, the Tribulation and Old Testament believers receive their resurrection bodies. At the end of the Millennium the millennial believers receive their resurrection bodies (1 Corinthians 15:23–24, 2 Corinthians 5:8, Philippians 1:23). All these believers will remain with the Lord throughout eternity in a state of happiness.
The unbelievers from all human history will be collected, judged at the Great White Throne judgment, and sentenced to the lake of fire where they will spend eternity in conscious agony. They will not be annihilated but will be punished in everlasting flames in complete separation from the glory and fellowship of the Lord. (Luke 16:19-26, 23:43; 2 Thessalonians 1:7–9, Jude 6-7; Revelation 20:11–15)
The Responsibility of Believers
Each believer must grow in grace, doctrine and knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ. The believer’s daily life must be consistent with the Lord’s plan and will. This brings glory to the Lord. (2 Peter 3:18).
Every believer is responsible to be an ambassador for Christ which means witnessing to the lost when the opportunity arises. (2 Corinthians 5:17–21). Every believer is a royal priest and therefore responsible to function in prayer for himself and others (1 Peter 2:5, 7, 9). The believer priest will offer spiritual sacrifices to the Lord in order to fulfill his priesthood (Hebrews 13:10–18).
Every believer is responsible to fulfill the laws of divine establishment, nationalism, and patriotism to his country. We are told to pay our taxes and uphold the laws of the land. (Romans 13:1–8; 1 Peter 2:13–20). Believers are told to be submissive to the government and laws of the land (1 Peter 2:13–20, I Timothy 2:1–2). In application to this principle we honor and respect the Constitution of the United States, the three branches of government, the laws of the land, and we pray for those who have promised to protect and serve the people of this land.

DANGEROUS TEACHINGS OF THE CHARISMATIC MOVEMENT
- Speak in tongues or you are not saved – It is evidence of the Holy Spirit!
- One of the chief tenets of the tongues movement is that you must speak in tongues because it gives evidence of the Holy Spirit. The evidence of the Holy Spirit in a believer’s life is their living for Christ. If a Christian lives for Christ and begins to love the world less, that is evidence that God is alive in their life. A person who is filled with the Holy Spirit is a person who is not filled with the world. (Eph 5:18 KJV) “And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit;”
- Speak in tongues or you do not have the Holy Spirit
- The fact of the matter is that if a person does not have the Holy Spirit, then they are unsaved. (Rom 8:9 KJV) “But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his”. A person is baptized in the Holy Spirit at the moment of salvation which means their sins are washed away, it does not mean you speak in unintelligible garble.
- Agreement in Prayer
- (Mat 18:19 KJV) Again I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven.
Here is another misinterpretation of the Bible. The above verse has to do with church discipline and has nothing to do with agreement in prayer. The charismatics believe that if you and someone else agree on something in prayer, then it will be done. Prayer becomes the command of man to God. God answers prayer according to His will and not ours. (James 4:15 KJV) For that ye ought to say, If the Lord will, we shall live, and do this, or that.
- Physical Healing
- (Isa 53:5 KJV) But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.
Here is probably the second most important teaching of the tongues movement. It is the belief that God will heal according to the promises in Scripture. All one has to do is have enough faith and God will do it. Isaiah 53:5 is normally used as the source text for this belief. However, when we search the Scriptures we find that physical healing is not part of the gospel.
(1 Pet 2:24 KJV) Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.
In 1 Peter 2:24 what is the context concerning healing? It is not physical healing in view but rather the healing is spiritual in nature. Notice it says “we, being dead to sins.” That is the type of healing the Lord has in view. We have been healed from Spiritual death and resurrected to newness of life. There is no doubt in my mind that God can heal any and all disease if he chooses to. He has chosen not to. Some people become sick and die, others become sick and get well again. Even unbelievers who have no one praying for them, will become healed if it is God’s will to do so.
If physical healing was part of the atonement then every cemetery speaks of the failure of Christ to attain that part of the atonement. The sign of physical healing was already waning in the time of Paul.
(Phil 2:25-27 KJV) Yet I supposed it necessary to send to you Epaphroditus, my brother, and companion in labour, and fellowsoldier, but your messenger, and he that ministered to my wants. {26} For he longed after you all, and was full of heaviness, because that ye had heard that he had been sick. {27} For indeed he was sick nigh unto death: but God had mercy on him; and not on him only, but on me also, lest I should have sorrow upon sorrow.
If physical healing was part of the atonement, then why couldn’t Paul just command the sickness to leave the body of Epaphroditus and heal him? Why did Paul have to wait on God for whether Epaphroditus would live or die? The answer is simple, because physical healing was never part of the gospel. So why then did God allow physical healing to occur?
(Mark 16:20 KJV) And they went forth, and preached every where, the Lord working with them, and confirming the word with signs following. Amen.
The Lord was confirming the initial push of the gospel with signs and wonders and as the Word began to spread the signs began to diminish. I have never read anywhere that in the 2nd century anyone could heal en masse like Paul and Peter did. The true miracles ended in the first century and only one miracle remains today and that is the miracle of salvation, that a dead sinner can be raised to newness of life and serve the living God.
- Certain people are “anointed”
- I have heard many times the term “anointed” when referring to a Charismatic preacher or some message which was preached. Every true believer is anointed by the Lord to bring the true gospel
(2 Cor 1:21 KJV) Now he which stablisheth us with you in Christ, and hath anointed us, is God;
The word “anointed” in this verse carries with it the meaning of “to appoint with the idea of assigning a task.” God gives us the tasks we are to do. (Eph 2:10 KJV) “For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.” There is nothing mysterious about this passage as it states that “the anointed” are the ones who have tasks to do. That task is sending forth the true gospel.
(1 John 2:27 KJV) But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him.
The words “anointing” here are the same words “chrisma” which carries with it the meaning that the believers receive knowledge via the teaching of the Holy Spirit who will teach them all things:
(John 16:13-14 KJV) Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will show you things to come. {14} He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall show it unto you.
These promises apply to all true believers and not just a certain few as God has determined that the church universal will send forth the gospel and not just a few mouthpieces. All Christians are commanded to be part of the Great Commission and woe unto them who relegate the task unto others.
- God is still giving verbal messages
- There are many Christians who believe that the canon is still open and that God is continuing to give messages. However, this is not true and there is sufficient evidence in Scripture to show that the canon is closed.
(Deu 4:2 KJV) Ye shall not add unto the word which I command you, neither shall ye diminish ought from it, that ye may keep the commandments of the LORD your God which I command you.
Every time someone speaks in tongues or receives a so-called prophecy, they are adding to God’s Word. They will tell you they are not but ask them a simple question. Where is their prophecy or revelation coming from? Before the Bible was complete, God used visions, prophecies and tongues to convey His Word. Many of the visions are listed in Scripture such as Joseph’s vision, Jacob’s vision of the ladder, and others. If a person receives a vision today and it is not from God, then it must be from Satan.
(Prov 30:6 KJV) Add thou not unto his words, lest he reprove thee, and thou be found a liar.
Those who add to God’s word will be found out to be a liar. On any given Sunday, there are thousands of Charismatic churches meeting and in every one of them there is always time given to hear prophecies. If we were able to catalog the hundreds of thousands of prophecies given at all these churches, we would find that 100% of them would be erroneous unless somebody makes a good guess. But the problem is, that if every prophecy, which is supposed to come from God, does not come to pass, then they are all lies and deceit. It is obvious then, that there are millions of lies being told in these churches every week which means that Satan is ruling in that congregation. (Rev 21:8 KJV) “But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.”
(Rev 22:18-19 KJV) For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book: {19} And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.
Here is the definite proof that the canon is closed and those that add to the Scriptures with their visions, prophecies and tongues are subject to the plagues in the Bible. This means that if someone is still subject to the judgment of God, then they are unsaved. When God closed the book of Revelation, that ended any further revelation from Him as we now go the completed Bible for our guidance. Tongues and such widens the authority to fit the one who is hearing or speaking. It goes from the Bible alone to the Bible plus. If God is still giving messages, then every time I need wisdom or guidance on a subject or situation, I must seek out the person still receiving the messages from God. This is exactly what the nations of Judah and Israel did. When they needed direction, they called for the prophets of God and God spoke through them. Therefore, if God is still giving messages the same way, then I must seek those people out.
Some say that tongues is only speaking Scripture back to God and that is not revelation: Let’s test it:
- A. Romans 3:10 comes from Psalm 14:1-3
- B. Romans 3:11-12 comes from Psalm 53:1-3
- C. Acts 2:16-21 comes from Joel 2:28-32
Conclusion: Repeated Scripture is Divine Revelation because New Testament books were new revelation from God. If one reads the New Testament, one will find many quotes from the Old Testament.
- Prosperity
- God wants you rich – Jerry Savelle, “It is part of our salvation” 7/2/95 – If material riches are a part of our salvation, then why are so many Christians all over the world struggling to make a living. This doctrine that God wants everybody rich is a doctrine of demons because it causes a person to keep their eyes on the physical things of the world and they never look beyond their lust for material gain. It also reeks with the works salvation plan. If I give so much, then God will give so much. It involves a work initiated by man and if Jerry Savelle is right that riches are a part of our salvation, then his gospel is a works based salvation and therefore he is still in his sins.
- Dreams, signs and visions are accepted without hesitation
- If there is one thing which no one questions in that movement, it is the dreams and visions which are taught. This is especially true when the person proclaiming their vision is on national TV on one of the ministries. The problem is that with visions and dreams the Word of God takes second place and all eyes are on the individual with their claim. One such a person is Jesse Duplantis who on the Ken Copeland Ministry stated he was in heaven 5 hours. This man no doubt received many oohs and aahs along with a hundred invitations to speak in churches. Let me tell you why this man is a liar and deceiver. First of all, when John was in heaven, he fell as dead before the Lord Jesus Christ, did Jesse? Secondly, Satan has the ability to give massive visions for deception. Does anyone remember Fatima? Thirdly, Paul was not allowed to discuss his journey into the third heaven, who gave Jesse permission to reveal his? How about the following passage of Scripture:
(Luke 4:5 KJV) And the devil, taking him up into an high mountain, showed unto him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time.
Here is the Lord Jesus Christ in His temptations being shown a vision of all the kingdoms of the world. Are we forgetting that Satan was trying to deceive God Himself? What makes us think he will not try to deceive us. This also applies to those who think they went to hell and those who believe they had out of body experiences including UFO abductions and floating above your body in an operating room. Satan is giving many visions today and the place where he has the most success is the Charismatic movement since no one in that movement checks anything out in Scripture. All they know is Acts 2 and 1 Corinthians 14, and the rest of the Scripture lies fallow.
- Overstresses the power of Satan
- Another teaching of the charismatic movement is the overstressing of the power of Satan. I was in a conference center once having just dropped in to pick up some materials of upcoming events and I looked inside the auditorium and there was a meeting of Women Aglow Fellowship and I heard the woman repeating over and over, “I bind you Satan.” If this woman knew her Bible, she would know that Satan was bound at the cross and has no authority over the believer. Unfortunately too many ignorant tongues speakers think that demons can indwell a believer. This is literally to say that Satan has more power than the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit indwells the true believer and since the Holy Spirit is eternal God, no one or nothing can remove Him from His children and He doesn’t share an apartment either.
(Mark 3:27 KJV) No man can enter into a strong man’s house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strong man; and then he will spoil his house.
This verse teaches that the strong man must be bound and then his house can be plundered. When Christ went to the cross, He bound Satan in the manner that he cannot prevent any of God’s elect from becoming saved. This is the binding that has taken place. Satan is helpless against God’s salvation plan. God has spoiled the house of Satan as He takes His elect from the kingdom of darkness to His kingdom.
(John 14:30 KJV) Hereafter I will not talk much with you: for the prince of this world cometh, and hath nothing in me.
Here is a verse which teaches that Satan has no authority or anything in the Lord Jesus. Since we are redeemed children of God, Satan has no authority over us at all either. The children of God should focus on the commission that we have to send forth the gospel and not focus on Satan. We must keep in mind the biblical truth that Satan is a defeated foe. There are even some Charismatic churches which pass out buckets so people can puke out the demons. There was one close to my house which did this. How far from biblical reality has the church gone.
- Their music mimics the world
- If there is one characteristic that sets charismatic music apart from traditional godly music, it is the worldliness of the sound. Christian rock has evolved from the charismatic movement. Many of them sport long hair, (1 Cor. 11:14) earrings, tattoos, and look no different than the hard rock bands of the world. There is no reverence in their music as it is designed just to get their hearers jumping in the seats.
(John 4:24 KJV) God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.
Charismatic music does not minister to the spirit rather it is a sensual music which ministers to the flesh and that is not worshipping God in spirit. Godly music has a reverent tone to it. Charismatic music appeals to the emotions and causes people to lose sight of the one they are supposed to be worshipping. The majority of the time the “artist” is the one who receives the accolades.
- Over emphasizes and distorts the doctrine of the Holy Spirit
- (John 16:13-14 KJV) Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will show you things to come. {14} He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall show it unto you.
The above verse tells us that the mission of the Holy Spirit in the life of the believer is to teach us about the Lord Jesus Christ and illuminate the meaning of Scripture. However, the tongues movement focuses on the Holy Spirit as continually giving tongues and messages today. The Holy Spirit indwells the believer and equips us for the task of sending forth the gospel. He does not draw believers to Himself but rather guides the believers into all truth. He is called the Spirit of truth and therefore since modern tongues are fake, He is definitely not behind them.
- It encourages women to usurp authority in the church
- (1 Cor 14:34 KJV) Let your women keep silence in the churches: for it is not permitted unto them to speak; but they are commanded to be under obedience, as also saith the law.
(1 Tim 2:11-15 KJV) Let the woman learn in silence with all subjection. {12} But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence. {13} For Adam was first formed, then Eve. {14} And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression. {15} Notwithstanding she shall be saved in childbearing, if they continue in faith and charity and holiness with sobriety.
Here is another tenet of rebellion against Scripture. The tongues movement gave rise to women preachers. No woman has ever been called by God to be a minister or evangelist. He would not violate His word the way the tongues people do. The women are to be silent in the congregation. If you ever visit a charismatic congregation, you will see that the women are leading the pack in shouting and screaming. These women who are pastoring churches or passing themselves off as evangelists are in absolute rebellion to God’s word. Women like Joyce Meyer, Marilyn Hickey, Gloria Copeland, and others have called themselves to the ministry. It is obvious in Charismatic churches that the men are not heads of their households, if they were they would be controlling their wives and daughters.
- Miracles are glorified and used to authenticate a special calling from God
- One of the most evil nets used to draw people to this false movement is the use of false miracles. False healers like Benny Hinn and Peter Popov have used much trickery to dazzle their audiences. In fact, in Kenya, 4 people left a hospital to be healed by Benny Hinn at one of his crusades, and died as a result.
In my hearing on the 700 Club Pat Robertson claimed he raised a dead person but in an interview he stated he couldn’t remember where or when – Where is the one he supposedly raised? Let us be honest, you raise someone from the dead and then you have amnesia as to the name of the person you raised. In tongues churches they have healing services which usually results in nothing. There are those who have claimed to be healed and in the last days God has allowed some people to be healed miraculously. Why?
(2 Th 2:11-12 KJV) And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie: {12} That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.
God is allowing people to be healed to allow those who want to be deceived to be deceived. In Matthew 12:39-40, we read:
(Mat 12:39-40 KJV) But he answered and said unto them, An evil and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign; and there shall no sign be given to it, but the sign of the prophet Jonas: {40} For as Jonas was three days and three nights in the whale’s belly; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.
In the time when Jesus walked the earth, His generation sought for a sign and He called them evil. Biblical principles are constant and the same principle applies today, that when someone is looking for a sign, they are showing they are evil. The Bible states we are to live by faith and not by sight, (2 Cor 5:7 KJV) (For we walk by faith, not by sight:) but when we seek a tongue or a miracle we are walking by sight. Walking by sight shows our inclination to worldly things and friendship with the world is enmity against God. Those who seek signs and wonders are friends of the world because the extent of their Christianity is their flesh and its satisfaction
(1 John 2:15-16 KJV) Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. {16} For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.
- Slain in the Spirit (Backward)
- One of the most exclusive charismatic events is something called Slain in the Spirit. It is when a person falls backward which is supposedly triggered by an action of the Holy Spirit. However, when we look into the Scriptures we find that when backward is mentioned, it is always in conjunction with judgment. Even the name slain in the spirit is erroneous:
(Rom 8:10 KJV) And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness.
The Holy Spirit gives life and does not slay anyone. The slain in the spirit theory does not exist in Scripture and is another creation of this false movement. This phenomenon gives people the false notion that when they fall backward they are somehow endued with some type of divine power from God. This is another deception of the tongues movement. Below are some Scriptures which reveal what backward in Scripture is:
(Isa 1:4 KJV) Ah sinful nation, a people laden with iniquity, a seed of evildoers, children that are corrupters: they have forsaken the LORD, they have provoked the Holy One of Israel unto anger, they are gone away backward.
(Isa 28:13 KJV) But the word of the LORD was unto them precept upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little; that they might go, and fall backward, and be broken, and snared, and taken.
(1 Sam 4:18 KJV) And it came to pass, when he made mention of the ark of God, that he fell from off the seat backward by the side of the gate, and his neck brake, and he died: for he was an old man, and heavy. And he had judged Israel forty years.
(John 18:5-6 KJV) They answered him, Jesus of Nazareth. Jesus saith unto them, I am he. And Judas also, which betrayed him, stood with them. {6} As soon then as he had said unto them, I am he, they went backward, and fell to the ground.
As we see in these verses wherever the term backward is written, it is pointing toward a judgment. The Holy Spirit brings life to the believer and not judgment. The believer no longer faces judgment because of Calvary, therefore slain in the spirit does not fit the Christian testimony. The Christian testimony is one of life and not death as backward represents.
- Baptism in the Holy Spirit is a separate event
- In Charismatic thinking the Baptism in the Holy Ghost is a separate event which means that when a person is baptized in the Holy Spirit, then they begin to speak in tongues giving evidence of the Holy Spirit’s presence in their life. The whole essence of the Baptism in the Holy Spirit is the washing away of our sins. Washing is the substance of the word baptism. A person who becomes a child of God has their sins washed away at the moment of salvation and is not a future event. The evidence that a person has the Spirit of God in their life is their spiritual walk in the faith and not speaking in gibberish as modern tongues are.
(Eph 5:18 KJV) And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit;
(Rom 8:1-5 KJV) There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. {2} For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death. {3} For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh: {4} That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. {5} For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit.
A person is filled with the Spirit upon their day of salvation. (Eph 1:3 KJV) “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ:” As we see in this verse that we have been blessed with ALL spiritual blessings and God has withheld no part of our spiritual inheritance from us. We see in Eph 5:18 that we are to be filled with the spirit which is explained in Romans 8:1-5 where we are commanded to walk in the spirit and not the flesh. We saw that the charismatic movement ministers to the flesh and emotions and therefore falls short of walking in the spirit. The Christian is to walk by faith and not sight. When a person feels that they must speak in tongues to show evidence of the Holy Spirit in their life, then in essence they are walking by sight and flesh which is totally opposite what the Christian walk is, but then again what else do you expect from a false movement.
- Always preaching joy, happiness, worldly satisfaction, the best things in life, etc.
- Another tenet of the charismatic movement is their continual emphasis on the material goods and happiness. This movement is chief among the elation movements that bring people to state of euphoria and allows them to keep thinking all is well. These people in the tongues movements very rarely, if ever, speak on the realities of hell. Instead of warning their people they could be in danger of hell fire, they are more concerned with them driving a Cadillac. The music does not help focus on spiritual things as how could one focus on the things of God when you are jumping up and down like you are at a sports event. This movement avoids the realities of judgment while keeping their constituents in a constant state of deception.
- The charismatic movement is the binding link in the ecumenical movement
- The Charismatic movement has strengthened the ecumenical movement. All one has to do is look at movements like Promise Keepers which does not focus on separation but rather unity at all costs. They have no problem uniting a Charismatic Catholic and a Charismatic Protestant together and tell them they are brothers. What about the Creation music festivals, which are nothing more than religious Woodstocks, where all the Charismatics come together from all kinds of churches and denominations and what is their commonality? Tongues, signs, and wonders!
The Charismatic Movement disregards the doctrine of separation which the true believer must adhere to. Any movement in any church which is unbiblical must be avoided by a true believer. Let us say that someone is in a tongues church and becomes saved, then they must leave that church because that is being obedient to the Scriptures. It is the same if a person is in a dead Protestant Church or the Roman Church and they become saved, then they must separate from those places. 2 Cor. 6:14-18
(Ezek 44:23 KJV) And they shall teach my people the difference between the holy and profane, and cause them to discern between the unclean and the clean.
The Charismatic movement will never be able to teach anyone the difference between holy and profane since they are profane which may also be translated worldly.
- Tongues are spoken by Satanists
- Another serious comparison to the modern tongue speaking must be made. It is the fact that the same chanting and babbling the tongue speakers do, is being done by witch doctors in Africa and voo doo witch doctors in the Caribbean. Missionaries have spoken more than once on the similarity of sounds between tongue speakers and these idol worshippers and voo doo practitioners. Quite frankly, that would be enough to make me question the practice of tongue speaking and its source.
- Summary
- This treatise was not written for those who choose to remain in this movement, it is written with the desire to warn those on the outside to stay away from this movement. It is dangerous and unbiblical and is a movement which represents the judgment of God on the church not the moving of the Holy Spirit in the last days. Tongues, signs and wonders are part of the great delusion that God is sending on the church in these final hours. If you have read this treatise and it caused you to think twice about this movement, then this work has done its job. I pray that the Lord may give you much spiritual discernment as we head toward the last day.
